Street Photography

Saturday 15 July
Downtown - 10am - 2 Hours
People, cafes, vendors, street merchants, buskers, historic buildings, art installations and much more. The power of observation underpins the art of great street photography. Learning to "see" interesting detail is a practised skill and we introduce you to easy methods that will open your photographer's eye and expose you to a world that is alive with detail. The most rewarding part of the class is learning how to approach interesting people and have them willingly pose for you. We will also go over settings, focusing techniques and lens choices common to street photography to help us capture those random chance encounters.

I enjoyed Michael Perrys class. He is very informative and helps pinpoint many things in our cameras that we have not known about, he is easy to follow along when taking photos and setting up cameras. I do wish to learn more from him.

One of the joys of a profession in photography is capturing, and sharing with others the beauties of nature: the mountains vibrant with fall colors, the exuberance of a field of poppies, the mysterious geometry of stars moving in the night sky.

Decades of landscape photography as well as a career as a psychologist have guided me to offer images sometimes simple, sometimes otherworldly.

My tools include medium format and 35mm film cameras and wet darkroom. Now I use 35mm digital cameras, Photoshop and Lightroom. My images have appeared in various publications and in three coffee-table fine-art books.

I love the art expressed in a photographic image. And the craft of photography excites me too. I love to teach!
I hold a California Teaching Credential in Photography and have taught Photography from the 8th grade to Jr. College level.
