One of the most basic tenets of composition is the Rule of Thirds. Although most people are familiar with this technique it is often forgotten in the haste to take a photo. However you ignore it at your peril as it can make an average snap into something which is has tension and dynamism.

In this meetup we will practice using the Rule of Thirds in a setting full of photographic possibility.

This was my second excursion onto the downtown streets in Jesse's class. The lessons were even more insightful this time. I especially liked that he gave each of us personal time and reviewed and commented on our photo taking results.

I thoroughly enjoyed Jesse's class. He broke down the basics into clear segments and then we got out on the street and put to practice what we learned. Jesse provided clear exercises and helped us manage our cameras to get the shots we tried for.

Jesse Najera made class truly enjoyable, easy to understand and, oh, did I mention well paced and fun? He is very knowledgeable and the experience provided a ton of technical skills, which with practice will raise my game going forward. Also, the location was great with unlimited subject matter in the downtown area. I have already highly recommended Jesse's class to friends.

The photo was taken at Highway 178 and Rancheria Rd. in Bakersfield, CA at 12:00 am.I have always been fascinated with space. When I heard that we had the possibility to see the northern lights, I immediately knew I had to go out and see it for myself. So me and my dad drove for 20 minutes to get to a darker part of town with less light pollution. It was so beautiful, you could make out a red, hazy hue in the sky, but the white light rays were so prominent and bright.Camera Settings: Canon

Was lucky to have a meteor fly across the sky as I was taking this photo. I've always wondered at the night sky. Even now, anytime I see a meteor or even a satellite it still fills me with excitement. Astrophotography allows me to share that wonder and excitement with others.
